Ken Grandon is both a Therapist and a teacher of bodywork.
Ken mixes many forms of Bodywork, Somatic Psychology, and Neuromuscular Re-education to best suite each individual person’s needs:
- Massage Therapy: Therapeutic Massage, Shiatsu (Japanese massage), Thai Massage, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Relaxation, Hot Rocks, and Therapeutic Hot Rocks.
- Feldenkrais Method (Somatic Psychology & Education combined with Neuromuscular Re-education.)
- Functional Anatomy
- Myofascial Release
- Anatomy Train Meridians
*The Feldenkrais Method is body-mind therapy that mixes Somatic Psychology and Education with Neuromuscular Re-education. The Feldenkrais Method creates better ease in movement, increases balance and co-ordination, reduces wear & tear on the body, betters posture, takes away/decreases pain & relaxes the body while also effecting the psyche. The Feldenkrais Method is about both learning and more importantly feeling and sensing how the motor cortex controls movements of the body. Feldenkrais uses the principles of Somatic Psychology and Neuromuscular Re-education while retracing child developmental patterns of movement to allow each person to inherently improve themselves.

A little about Ken:
Kenneth Roger Grandon has been doing bodywork since 1994.
He studied the Feldenkrais Method & Shiatsu massage for 2 years in Japan before officially entering the 4 year Feldenkrais professional training program in Hawaii on the island of Maui in 1996. He earned his International Feldenkrais license which mixes Somatic Psychology & Education with Neuromuscular Re-education in 1999. During his school vacations he lived in Japan & Thailand and studied Shiatsu, Thai massage, and the Feldenkrais Method while working as a Nursing college professor, English teacher, and an ordained wedding minister.
Ken returned to his home state of Michigan upon graduating and worked at the Physical Therapy Center in the city of Rochester through 2001. During that time, he worked with both outpatients & those with chronic pain. For the Physical Therapy Center, he worked in the clinic & home care departments. He also helped expand the home care into nursing homes & applied the Feldenkrais Method to Watsu (heated pool therapy).
It was during this time that he realized his true passion: merging Eastern & Western medicine, philosophy, & nutrition. Though he specializes in holistic methods, he is a firm believer that to realize our true human potential, we must synergistically merge all we have learned the world over.
In 2001, Ken again started to travel the world actively seeking out the best teachers. He has continued working & studying in the field of bodywork since then, working & studying in the states of Hawaii, California, & Arizona as well as the countries of Japan, Thailand, Brasil, & Argentina.
In 2005, Ken returned to his roots in the midwest & has lived in Michigan & Ohio during that time.
In 2010, Ken decided to add an American massage license to his bodywork resume. He searched for the best teachers of massage in America & found an exceptional bodywork institute right in his backyard: Ken entered Irene's Institute of Myomassology. Irene's Myomassology Institute has expanded to become a frontier school, mixing many types of effective forms of bodywork.
Being a lifelong student, Ken thoroughly enjoys continuing his quest to find effective ways to improve his bodywork knowledge & techniques. He also believes lifelong learning is necessary to allow him to cater towards each person's individual needs.
Ken is currently working as a Massage Therapist & Feldenkrais Practitioner. He is working at his private practice, doing home health, working at medical offices and movement art centers, and visiting business offices. He is also teaching classes privately and working at weekend seminars at Irene’s Myomassology Institute.
